Closing fintech risks
We are a team of developers and managers helping fintech companies resolve technical risks quickly and scale without disrupting their business.
The Client
A fintech company with approximately 100–150 employees: a B2B payments platform for small businesses, actively scaling while negotiating with an acquiring bank and preparing for a PCI DSS assessment. Its technical core was a small team of six engineers. Two of them held the entire transaction-processing architecture in their heads. Those were the two who left — three weeks apart.
The Situation
A key backend engineer (Go) and a frontend team lead (React) left the team in the middle of a release cycle. Within two weeks, the team was delivering only about 20% of its usual output.
Ahead of them were a critical integration with a partner bank and a mandatory PCI DSS assessment that could not be postponed. The risks were specific:
- Critical processing logic existed only in the minds of people who were no longer answering calls;
- A missed integration would delay market entry by at least a quarter;
- A failed assessment could put the company’s license at risk.
The Challenge
Rebuild team capacity without losing delivery speed or quality. Ensure knowledge transfer so the departure of two key people could never happen again in the same way. Meet both regulatory and partner deadlines.

Our approach – act today
We are a team of developers and managers helping fintech companies resolve technical risks quickly and scale without disrupting their business.
Technical assessment within 24 hours
We reviewed the Go and React codebase, identified critical release paths, documented risk areas, and uncovered documentation gaps.
Rapid hiring plus interim consulting
Within seven business days, we placed two senior/lead contractors (Go and React) and brought in a team-lead consultant for three weeks to manage knowledge transfer.
Structured onboarding
We ran a series of read-the-code and pair-programming sessions, and created concise guides for critical modules and CI/CD pipelines.
Process stabilization
We introduced daily syncs to track tasks and set up automated testing and monitoring for key transaction flows.
Results: 30 Days
- Team velocity recovered to 95% of its pre-disruption level.
- The critical release was delivered on time: the partner-bank integration was completed as scheduled, and the regulatory deadline was met.
- Test coverage in critical modules increased by 40% — something that had not existed before the engineers left.
- CI build time improved by 30%.
- We created 12 technical documents and checklists, reducing new-developer onboarding time by 50%.
What the Client Said

When the second person said they were leaving, I realized no one else knew how the processing worked from the inside. And we had a release in a month. And an assessment. That was the moment I understood that ‘we’ll figure it out’ was no longer an option.

CEO

A month later, we had documentation, tests, and an onboarding plan that had never existed before. Strange as it sounds, losing those two people made us less fragile.

Who This Is For
- Fintech teams where one or two people hold critical business logic in their heads.
- Companies facing upcoming regulatory or partner deadlines.
- Scaling teams where the sudden loss of an engineer can bring the entire delivery cycle to a halt.
